Ground Beef recall: The ground beef in the recall was produced June 11 at a Cargill packing plant in Wyalusing, Pa., and eventually sold through BJ’s Wholesale Club stores in eight East Coast states, according to the U.S.D.A.

So unless someone stuck some in the freezer, that stuff's long used by now. I suppose the freezer argument's the only reason they bother issuing recalls on something long past it's "eat by" date.

Gotta recall it, just in case. Same as the eggs a couple weeks ago--most of those were sold in June or July, and are probably already eaten.

Also, look how long it took to track down the source of contamination in the peppers-oops-guess-it-wasn't-the-tomatoes thing last year.
