Most of the touted benes of organic (it's healthier for you, more nutritious, etc) are bunk. It's just food, with no discernible nutritional difference. Some of the environmental stuff probably stands up to the claims, but even some of the "better for the animal" stuff is crap. I'm not opposed to people eating "organic" (though I have a pedant's hatred for the label organic - OF COURSE it's organic, if it wasn't carbon based it wouldn't be food), as long as they aren't getting suckered by the "it's so much healthier for you" schtick.
Same as vegetarian, really - yes, go veggie because eating lots of red meat increases your risk of cardiac disease, that's fine. Don't get scared into going veggie over splash-scare b.s. like "mad cow disease" that's so low risk you're more likely to die from a dog bite...
