How do people even get strychnine? Isn't it illegal? (not that I haven't been know to purchase illegal substances myself on occasion, back in my youth...) but really, I would think it would be difficult to come by. SHOULD be difficult to come by.

Old rat bait. Lots of places to get it outdated, old farmers and such in the back storage sheds... I think it's harder to buy it retail now, but plenty of non-official sources if you really want to look.
