In other news...

In case you wondered about all those idiots with dogs loose in the back of the truck? They're breaking the law. Wish I could say that I'd ever seen one pulled over...

According to RCW 46.61.660: “It shall be unlawful for any person to transport any living animal on the running board, fenders, hood, or other outside part of any vehicle unless suitable harness, cage or enclosure be provided and so attached as to protect such animal from falling or being thrown therefrom.”

Not in Texas they ain't.

Shame on Texas for that then. And shame on Washington for an apparently total lack of enforcement. Pretty sure the only people who get ticketed for it are people who cause an accident because their dog flung itself out the truck into traffic.

They pretty much WON'T pass such a law in Idaho. Sheep farmers get all up-in-arms about it, because they tend to run around with Border Collies on flatbeds.

Which is bullshit. BULLSHIT, I say. It is patently unsafe for the dogs, and creates a traffic hazard with potential for nasty (and completely avoidable!) auto wrecks endangering people. Not that it does any damn good to pass the law anyway, if nobody enforces it, which is the case here. Which is also bullshit. It's ALL BULLSHIT. We're drowning in it. :P
