So the judges agree

with the researchers, who agree with the immunologists, who agree with the pediatricians that vaccines are good for kids, and do not cause autism.

This is good.

It is, apparently, not enough for the fine folks at the National Vaccine Information Center.

Barbara Loe Fisher, the center's president, said the court's ruling will do little to change the minds of most parents who suspect a link between vaccines and autism. She said more studies are needed. "I think it is a mistake to conclude that, because these few test cases were denied compensation, it's been decided vaccines don't play any role in regressive autism."

While that statement is probably true when taken by itself and out of context (ie, a judge denying payment on a suit does not prove or disprove a scientific effect), I find it grotesquely laughable that this woman is calling for more studies, when already there have been at least dozens (possibly hundreds?) of studies showing no link between vaccination and autism, only one study ever that did, and at least 2 studies that specifically debunked that one.

I suspect Barbara (who I'll bet any amount of money you like is one of these mothers who gets hysterical about the vaguest threat to her ickle kiddywinks) is hoping that she'll get enough results to simply ignore the truth.

The cure for Autism is to not let your kids act like asshats in the first place.

Okay, now that THAT comment is out I'll expand. Is there a disease that affects children to the point of not functioning in society. YES! And I feel for any child and parent that has to deal with the aftermath.

Is it okay to automatically classify your child screaming their head off in Wal-Mart because you told them they couldn't get the latest "DUI Barbie" as 'She/He/It/They are Autistic'. Hell no!

I'm sorry. But when my Son starts doing that, I pick his ass up and walk out the door. That's just poor discipline on the parents side.

BTW: Yes, my Son acts like an asshat in Wal-Mart. He is Two after all, but he is learning that some shit don't fly with Daddy.

Alright, done ranting. I'm sure someone is going to rip my head off.

I'm cool with that.
