I get something very similar. "Wow, your really good at that! You should be a dentist!" Dentists and assistants ask me pretty regularly why I don't go to dental school. I don't get that from patients very much since most patients assume I'm a dentist and/or don't understand the differences. But the fact that I do get it from other dental professionals is ridiculous! I went to school to do the job that I wanted to do. It is a unique confluence of skill sets and responsibilities that I *love*. If I wanted to be a dentist I would have gone to dental school. (It would have taken about the same amount of time.) The fact that even within the profession my job is still seen as somehow inferior or less desirable to being a dentist is very frustrating.
