But instead, we have clients who pull stunts like showing up to drop their critter off to board, without making an appointment for such, and without bringing the medications she's on. Then they tell the receptionist that the cat's not doing well, and they've been debating when they should have her put down but just don't want to deal with it. So what exactly do they think we're gonna do with her if she keeps getting worse while they're out of town?!? argh.

Also on the what the hell is wrong with people list... about 2 weeks ago, I saw a dog for vaccinations and exam. Was generally unremarkable, except for a bit of skin irritation in the flanks, which the owner (Delusional) said comes on seasonally. Vaccinated her and sent them on their way. Last Tuesday (so a week ago), they called in and wanted to know what shot I gave in her right front leg, because it was causing a big reaction. Well, I didn't give ANY shots in her right front leg, but they insist that I did "We know what we saw!". They wanted to bring the dog in for a recheck that day. That's fine, but they're told I won't be there, I had the afternoon off.
They come in and see Dr. M, and are quite irate and insist that I did give a shot there, and that whatever shot I gave there is causing the problem. Dr. M thinks it looks like an inflammatory thing, offers to take it off and send it to the lab for biopsy, they decline. He sends home some meds and doesn't charge them for the exam or meds, even though we all know that this has nothing to do with the vaccinations.
I call today to see how the dog is doing. Left a message on their machine.
Owner calls back and talks to the technician; Delusional wants to know why I didn't see them when they came in, since someone else told them that my truck was there so I must have been in the clinic--she's all offended that I'm avoiding them. Tech explains that there are TWO doctors with white trucks, and besides that, I frequently leave the truck at the clinic when I'm not on-call. Delusional then informs tech that they had the lesion taken off at a different clinic and sent in for biopsy; results support an inflammatory, probably allergic, cause. Which is good, but Delusional still wants to talk to me for some reason. Since I was in the process of knocking a cat out at the time this conversation was happening, I tried to call back later. So far, all I've gotten is a busy signal. We'll see what transpires when I finally get in touch with them.
