I work in a veterinary clinic. So please explain to me why, on a regular basis, there are multiple children running and screaming in the lobby, with no parents in sight? At what point did it become acceptable to ditch your unruly, noisy, disruptive kids with the already busy reception staff while you disappear into the exam room to talk to the doctor? And why am I not allowed to put said children in a kennel as I would an unsupervised dog left in the lobby?

Along with the "We are not a bank; we do not back loans" sign I contemplate posting, we apparently need one that reads:

"Unsupervised children will be given an espresso and a free puppy or kitten."

Man. I'd have been *thrilled* with that as punishment. If I made a ruckus (and, while I don't remember doing so, am certain I *MUST* have from time to time), it would not only have been a trip to the car, it would have been a lecture ***all*** the way home regarding how I'd embarrased her, what sort of ungrateful child I was, etc.

Yeah. In the end, though, it comes down to whether or not parents are willing to PARENT (the verb form, you know) their kids as opposed to letting them grow up wild as weeds and then blame society for the results.

*sigh*

Well, I wasn't an only child. And it really sucked when my younger brother got to go with (and probably get a candy or something!!) and I had to stay in the car. :P
