So the IRS finally got around to replying to my revised return (which I sent in months ago). They have decided that they don't want to send me that much, and would like me to sign off on a re-revised return saying that they owe me $200 less. Once again, I have 3 weeks to reply to this. Once again, I'm sure it will take them 3 months on their end. And they'll probably re-re-re-revise the damn thing. So it seems that if I'm lucky, I might get the money they owe me by the time I retire.

I'm officially joining the long line of people annoyed, frustrated, and/or irate at the IRS.

The start of this was 2 years ago, and my fault entirely--i didn't file all the appropriate forms, blah blah.

mid-August, I receive a notice that the lovely folk at the IRS want $4000 from me, and they want it by September. THREE WEEKS to come up with $4000 dollars? yeah, cuz I have that just laying around! So I send all my paperwork and fears off to the friendly accountant that my aunt knows, who has sorta already done half of this stuff (the confusion involved a transfer of mutual funds from my aunt to me as a graduation present...).

He gets me back a bunch of stuff that i'd missed, and it ends up the IRS owes ME $750. Yay! all is right with the world!

Today, (Note that this is just OVER a month from when the IRS received my response) I get a notice that they will be re-evaluating my account and will contact me again within 60 days.

What the fuck? I get 3 weeks to come up with $4000 but they get 3 MONTHS to come up with $750? How is this anything like fair, right, or reasonable? grah! insert incoherent swearing and frothing at the mouth here.
