Sep. 26th, 2004 03:02 pm The following letter and response was posted on http://www.greencats.com; quite an amusing site.
Original Email sent to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals):
Hello,
I would love to join PETA. I am very much for animal rights. I have a dog and two cats whom I love very much. I have enough money for One Year Membership ($16).
My problem is that I am an immigrent with limited education in your country so I have to work in a slaughterhouse. Although I do not enjoy putting cows to death it is the only way I know how to make good living.
I am vegeterian never wear fur and never like or go to zoos. Is this okay can I still join in Peta while working in slaughterhouse? I plan to keep looking for new work but have not found anything yet. I have enough money for One Year Membership.
Thank you,
Bari Banaadir
Response from PETA (USA):

(So apparently, you CAN join PETA, even if you work in a slaughterhouse. Maybe I should write them back and let them know I got a new job: Clubbing baby seals to death.
Can I still join PETA?)
