of why I wanted this job in the first place.

Got to spend about 45 minutes this afternoon (we had a break in appointments) with some folks that just got a new puppy. We had a lovely discussion of training, vaccination protocols, age to neuter, dental care, more training, some house training and a bit of training recommendation... they were friendly and polite, asked intelligent questions, accepted my answers, were interested in having well-behaved dogs and open to suggestions of how to accomplish that. Didn't hurt at all that the pup was adorable and friendly.

Sensible people willing to responsibly care for their pet and listen to a trained professional's advice? My word.

Sounds like a breath of fresh air.
That's the kind of thing I wish I could do for all my critters.

Which probably goes a long way toward explaining why I don't have a menagerie right now.
Hard to afford all that responsibility, you know.

I have had this roomie for five months.
I don't need a kitty, no.

Sometimes I want a kitty, but I can't afford one.
Roomie says he's okay with a kitty, but won't pony any of the pet deposit.
(i don't blame him. i wouldn't either for a roomie's pet.)

Besides, I'm attached to Siamese.
Most people think they talk too much.
Maybe that's why I like them?

The one I have sounds like a siamese, but looks like a long-haired calico that's been run through a wringer, had a hair-cut from a 2 year old, and not been fed for a month. But she totally loves people, and wants to sleep on the bed curled up next to my back. Utterly unconcerned with the dogs, and only some minor hissing between her and the other cats.

What's your pet deposit?

$600. Half is non-refunable.
But there's food and supplies and vet checkups and and and ...

All in all, now isn't the best time.
