that not taking the guts out of a dead critter when prepping it to eat would be a problem?
JFC INTERNATlONAL INC. is recalling frozen CAPELIN discovered by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors during a routine inspection and subsequent analysis of product by Food Laboratory personnel confirming that the fish was not properly eviscerated prior to processing.

And on the topic of seafood, Bright Water Seafood, Tucker, GA is voluntarily recalling its 7 ounce packages of Buffalo Krab Dip and 7 ounce packages of Southwest Krab Dip because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

But was it not done properly because of wrong technique or bc they thought it wasn't necessary?

Gutting fish is a really weird thing. Few things feel that way, slimey, coldish, soft yet firm and with stringy bits. Can you imagine gutting anchovies? Probably like peeling shrimp. Done that, I mean as a job, man was that ever annoying. Hey, ever ate fresh sea urchin? That is strange, too.

Lol, random today, huh?

I think that in this case they were supposed to be eviscerated but weren't. I haven't gutted fish in a long, long time... but I've recently done a necropsy on a 140 pound dog, so I guess that makes up for a lot of fish, yeah?

I have not had sea urchin. Bruce did though, and said it was like eating salty fish pudding, and one of the more disgusting things he's ever tried...

Hah! He never tried the "food" in a Romanian prison. After that sea urchin is a delicacy. So is stale bread. Actually everything is that you can call food without having to put it in quotation marks. (There was tiny, wriggly living things in the "drinking water"...) x_x

You know, I have made it a long-term goal to avoid prison time. This does not make me want to change that goal.

Good choice. Couldn't agree more.

(But if ever you come into the situation where you have to deviate from that basic plan, keep in mind that the services rendered can differ greatly from country to country.) ;)

I have heard such things. I imagine there are some where I could better the services rendered me by rendering certain services to others.... but still a situation I'd prefer to pass on! :D
