No, really, I do.

Today I got to do a c-section on a mastiff with a uterine torsion. Had a total "what the fuck?" moment when I opened her up and things were all in weird places, but got it straightened out and retrieved the pups. Sadly, only one of the 4 within the twisted section were viable, but she'd already had 8 live pups before presentation, so still ended up with a sizable litter to care for.
This, by the way, is the same breeder as was mentioned earlier, when I fished the pup out of the trash. That pup is doing good, bosses her littermate around and growing like mad. Owner asked me today for my permission to name the pup after me. I have my first name-sake!

AND. Remember Beeotch, with the chihuahua? I found out today that not only did she argue about paying the whole bill for boarding, she cussed out my tech for it. ("Goddamnit, I just want my fucking dog back! All this shit over some stupid goddamn money!" and other such comments, directed also at the other clients in the lobby.) So I gave my receptionist official permission to "fire" her, and to tell her why. I don't work for people who abuse my staff. If she can't figure out how to speak civilly to my techs and receptionist, she can find her stoned butt a new doctor, because I won't tolerate it.

Excellent. There is nothing worse than an employer who doesn't stand up for their staff, and few things better than an employer who does....

My hat's off to you...

Yes, my boss rocks. I'd probably get in trouble for doing that at many jobs. But he's done the same thing before :)

In a few months she'll ship them to the coast and they'll all be sold. She's a breeder, man.

Woot for putting Beeotch in her place.
We license people to drive. Make them take tests and shit.
Why don't we do this when someone wants to get a pet?

I've asked this same question many times. For pets, too.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who loves their job despite The Stupid. Often say that my job is about fighting natural selection. I keep people alive who would otherwise be humorous statistics.

My parents used to own a pet store. They had a dim view of breeders and refused service to many of them.

It depends on the breeder. This lady is actually good people, but the woman she works with keeps sending her dogs that are genetic nightmares and shouldn't be bred. and I'm finally getting that across to her, I think. We do work with several people who seriously should NOT be breeding (see earlier entries) but this woman doesn't balk at bringing dogs in for anything that seems wrong, expects to be billed for it, and actually pays bills.

The only way to stop a bully is to stand up to them. Well done.
