say or hear things like this at work, which are actually relevant to your job?

"And I did it all without getting blood splatters on my khakis!"

Subsitute "crapped up with plutonium" for "getting blood spatters", and yes.

Well, I suppose that's entertaining too :)

For me, substitute "shit" and I say and/or hear it pretty much every day!

You're so lucky :P

Oh, remember that snake I got from you? he's doing well, in case anybody there wonders. And he eats a hell of a lot more than once a month if it's offered. stupid, freaking ..... should not have had snakes.

Oh yeah, actually we were just talking about both those snakes (you took one, a board member took the other, who is also doing well) the other day. And no, unfortunately, many of the people who surrender animals to us are not qualified to own the animal in question. Many people aren't qualified to own a houseplant for cryin' out loud!

Like the lovely 11 month old black lab we got in last week, who is such a horrible dog "he flunked out of obedience class." Fact is, they just got frustrated because he was a PUPPY when they took him, and he couln't hold his focus for a whole hour, and sometimes had to be guided into learning the desired behavior, and they simply quit going to class. He's one of the nicest, best behaved dogs we have in the shelter right now.

Shiny. at least he's a puppy--they're much easier to find homes for than old dogs.

Only in the more "wishful thinking" kind of conversations.

hehehe. don't let your wishful thinking get you in trouble, lovey.

I've had similar conversations at work, though not relevant to my job.
And such conversations are usually followed by the statement:
"I hate that we're this close."

Somehow this doesn't surprise me. I think I like it.
You know, I don't think I've ever heard what your new job is.

I work for an "Outdoor and Adventure Equipment and Supplies" place.
In the warehouse. I'm a grunt.

We make a lot of shit to keep the fog off your glasses/ski masks/dive masks and some special stuff to keep it off swim goggles. We have stuff to wrap your shotguns, rifles, bows, canteens, and Thermoses to keep it camouflaged and weather-protected. And we make a lot of crap that nobody should buy.

Sounds like a place my cousin would spend a lot of money :)
$70 boating sandals that look to me just about like the sandals I bought at a garage sale for $2. Things like that?

Over-priced stuff, yes. Useless over-priced stuff, totally.
We also have accounts for this woman whose stuff has been seen being sold at Nordstroms. Not a place I shop regularly.

I see. Remind me to stay on your good side, and get out of the way when you indulge your hobbies ;)
