Is all that was written on the box of kittens dumped at our clinic this morning. Anybody need a kitten or 4?
3 female (one black, 2 matching tuxedos) and one male (orange tabby).

In other news...

Someone from DirecTV/TV solutions called back about taking me off the advert list. Woman needs my address...which they obviously already HAVE or I wouldn't be receiving mailings, yes? Anyway, she left a message asking me to call back. Gave me her name and extension and everything... EXCEPT the phone number. I am yet more impressed with the customer service.

And a blurb from Newsweek:

What are the odds?
Heart disease is scary. So is mad cow disease. But only one of them is a good reason to give up beef. Your chance of getting heart disease in the next year is 1 in 250, compared with less than 1 in 10 billion for mad cow.

Yes, I do, but you can't FedEx a kitty.

you obviously lack imagination ;)
you CAN fedex cats. but it's frowned upon. much more reasonable is to put them in a carry-crate and send them by alaska airlines. and people do that all the time... you just have to pick it up at the airport.

I could drive them to him if he's interested. We see each other occasionally. I don't have a trip specifically planned but might be able to work something.

Actually, I'm thinking that if they want kittens, I'll make a long weekend and take the kitties and the bat over, drop the bat off with the rescue in bothell and the kittens at ocicat's, and visit some seattelites while i'm around.

You're welcome to come with if you like (i much prefer driving with company), but it'll probably be a thurs-sunday or fri-monday thing, which hasn't seemed to work with your schedule in the past :(

I contacted him and he says he'll pass. He ideally wants a polydactyl and is worried he might not click with these guys after the long trip. So it looks like no luck... Maybe we can do a Thurs-Fri (drive back Sat morn) thing someday though... Compromise. :)

Well hell, I had a polydactyl in a bit ago, but only one--don't know if she's still available; really sweet and tiny (6 pounds) young adult female with 7 toes on each front foot. Dubbed her Thumbelina. Yellow and brown tabby. I can see if Lorraine still has her if he is interested.

As for the long trip, well, I gotta bring the kennel back anyway--so if it's got cats in it instead of empty, oh well. Just means I've gotta pick 'em back up on the way out of town.

I think he's more concerned about the trip being stressful for them. I think he may be a bit too sweet natured to go with our theory of "tough luck kitty, you're alive." I'm not going to push, I've really only had a few short conversations with him - enough to know he's very nice and any cat that moves in with him is lucky - but that's about it.

Heh. What if you tell him I'm bringing them to Seattle anyway, and he might as well meet them?

Lol! I don't know... He's ocicat on LJ - track him down and ask! :) I really think he's looking for a polydactyl and that he's got something in particular in mind.

Alrighty then... I'll track him down :)

I think i might have spoken to ocicat on line once or twice. don't know them in person though.
How about a matching set of female tuxedos?
Or a halloween-y set of one black and one orange?

If you can throw a kitten across several hundred miles of saltwater and solid ground and have it survive impact, then I'd love a kitten.

It's not really surprising how DirecTV are acting. Of course they don't want anyone off their mailing list, otherwise how will they all get their annoygasms?

well, not handily--you'd have to pay for shipping on that one :P

Sorta true, except that the other company I called that night (Charger Communications...sells cable) the woman who answered the phone said "Sure. Give me just a minute to transfer you to the right department to do that." and that was it.

Just goes to show that Charger Communications have scruples of a kind.

I'm not giving up beef Little Dragon. None of lives forever and those who give up beef end up dying at just about the same rate as the rest of us.

I'm not trying to convince you to do so. I gave up beef (sorta) because it's expensive and venison is free... but if you go back through my peta-tagged rants (quite a while back now) you'll find one where i made a much less concisely worded argument saying basically the same thing. PeTA was saying something insanely stupid (as usual) about getting Mad Cow Disease from fish and that we should therefore all be vegan.
I have no objection to people being vegetarian or vegan. I just hope they make that choice for a valid/rational reason, not based on panic spread by PeTA's dumbassery.

Hey, you were lucky! A birth date is more information than most boxes of kittens left on doorsteps have! Sorry, I don't need any more kittens. I've got oodles of them in my bedroom right now, including a lovely chocolate/cinnamon classic tabby female that's nearly big enough to go. And one scrawny, boney, not-doing-very-well black male. The one that had the concussion. He eats some, but not much. Doesn't like being syringe fed. And if he doesn't start gaining weight, he's not going to make it.

Heh. Well, I don't need more either! I'm already having screaming fits about the one I inherited last year. Bastard keeps starting fights with the other cats, and getting up on the counters, and stealing my food--off my plate while I'm eating it!
I caught him on the counter this morning and dunked 'is sorry butt in the sink. Which probably just means he'll be on the stove instead of the counter tonight.
