Day of the dead
Oct. 1st, 2008 11:49 amSo this morning we euthanized 1 dog, 1 cat, and 1 horse. The not-eating-severely-anemic cat from the previous entry is still hanging in, but looking worse. I suspect that if the owner ever returns their phone message, we'll be euthanizing him.
And I just got in a critter that should be euthanized, but they don't want to do it today because it's the daughter's birthday; so we're going to leave the poor thing (collapsed lung, severe sub-cutaneous emphysema, probably from air leaking from the collapsed lung, difficulty breathing...) in a kennel overnight and they'll come in and euthanize tomorrow. Tried to talk them into doing the euthanasia now, and just picking the body up tomorrow, but apparently the daughter's birthday is a higher priority than the suffering pet. We'll be racking up a bill on pain killers today, I think.
Oh, and there's another dog euthanasia scheduled for me this afternoon.
1:15pm Edited to add: And just euthanized a puppy with a cleft palate.
2:45pm ETA: And the anemic cat just died. STILL cannot get in touch with the owner.
