There are 21 cases of E. coli illness confirmed or suspected in North Carolina, state health officials said today, citing 11 instances in Wake County. Probable link with going to the State Fair, though they haven't narrowed it down to a specific food source or animal association.
A Salmonella outbreak has sickened 42 people in six states, including 26 confirmed cases in New York alone. Wegmans has recalled the pine nuts that the CDC and state health departments have identified as the source of the outbreak.
Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market Inc., is voluntarily recalling fresh bagged Washed Spinach 12oz, with the Enjoy by date of OCT 16 sold under the f&e label. One bag of this product with the Oct 16 Enjoy by date was confirmed to be positive for Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been associated with this product.
